Explosion outside Manipur CLP leader's residence in Thoubal

Guwahati: A hand grenade exploded near the gate of Manipur Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh's residence in Thoubal district

A senior police officer said the explosion took place at Yairipok Bishnunaha under Yairipok police station at around 8.15 pm on Thursday. "The identity and motive of the perpetrator are yet to be established," the officer said. Soon after the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation in the area. "We, the Meira Paibi (womenfolk body) of Yairipok Bishnunaha, strongly condemn the bomb blast in the residential area. Such acts of violence are unacceptable at a time when people of the state have already been suffering for the past few years," a woman of the locality said.
