Gurugram traffic police issue 6,231 challans worth ₹1.24 cr in August

Gurugram: Gurugram Traffic Police fined 6,231 motorists for overspeeding and imposed fines totalling around Rs 1.24 crore during August, officials said.

According to police, Gurugram Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive against overspeeding from August 1 to August 31 and took action against motorists violating speed limits.

A total of 6,231 drivers were challaned for overspeeding on the Mumbai Expressway, Golf Course Road and other major roads across Gurugram.


Officials said penalties amounting to Rs 1,24,62,000 were imposed during the drive.

A senior traffic police officer said the Gurugram Police's primary objective is to make city roads safer, curb road accidents and end criminal activities.

To prevent overspeeding, the Traffic Police regularly conducts special enforcement drives and morning checkpoints to take strict action against traffic violators and prevent any untoward incidents.

He said the campaign was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Gurugram Police appealed to the public not to overspeed and always follow traffic rules to ensure a safe journey. Such special enforcement drives will continue in the future as well, the official said.
