Announcing the holiday on November 25, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta wrote on social media platform X, "The Delhi Government has decided to declare 25 November 2025 as a Public Holiday to commemorate the sacred occasion of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji."

The day marks the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru and is widely commemorated with community gatherings and memorial events across the states of Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand.
The Chandigarh Administration also made a similar announcement, saying that November 25 will now be observed as a public holiday in all the Government Offices/ Boards/ Corporations/ Institutions, including Industrial Establishments under the Chandigarh Administration, on account of Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
