Gujarat's first Jal Utsav inaugurated in Amreli

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated state’s first “Jal Utsav” (Water Festival) at Dudhala village of Lathi block in Amreli district in the presence of Governor Acharya Devvrat. The ten days event is being called Jal Utsav 2023.

Speaking on the occasion, governor Devvrat said that the event stems from the decision of the chief minister to rid the state of water crisis and will become an inspiration not for Gujarat alone, but for other states as well.

Stressing upon the water conservation measures in Amreli being a stepping sto9ne for developing tourism in Amreli, he said that the government lands in the area can be freed from “Gando Baval” (Prosopis juliflora) and various trees can be planted so as to enhance rainfall and betterment of environment. He further said that while the state is making attempts to evolve as a developed state, the industrial revolution in the sate b=is being given additional impetus. Water and electricity being two most important needs for industry, the crisis for the same would be resolved in the state.


Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that almost everyone has seen the water crisis in Saurashtra region of the state, which is being taken care of by the state government and Dholakia foundation.

He further lauded prime minister Narendra Modi and said that Gujarat has reaped maximum benefit from Modi’s vision. Ever since he (Modi) became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the water from Narmada has been used as such that Gujarat turned green, Patel said adding that Modi alter arranged for 24 hours electricity supply to ensure service and good governance for the people of Gujarat.
