Side by side in school, twins clinch med PG seats together

In a rare achievement, twin brothers Him and Hard Dalsaniya from Limbdi, Gujarat, have both secured postgraduate medical seats this year, each in a sought-after end branch after NEET PG.

Sons of teachers Narottam and Urmila Dalsaniya, the brothers studied together from Class 1 to 12 in Morbi. "We studied side by side from Class 1 and, in Class 11, chose B group with a pact to become doctors together," Him told TOI.

Their paths diverged in college, Him completed MBBS at GMERS Gandhinagar, while Hard graduated from MP Shah Medical College, Jamnagar, but they converged again at the PG stage. In NEET PG, Him scored 528 (All India Rank 16,643) and Hard 526 (AIR 17,045, Gujarat rank 993), reversing their NEET UG scores where Hard had the edge. “We pushed each other whoever was ahead had to pull the other up,” Him said.

Initially allotted MD Medicine at Parul Medical College, both brothers waited for their preferred choices. Him eventually chose Dermatology at LN Medical College, Bhopal (Rs 23.15 lakh), while Hard opted for Radiology at ND Desai Medical College, Nadiad (Rs 31 lakh).

“We wanted our first choices, not just any seat,” Him added.

The brothers could have taken other branches at BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, but stayed with their preferred disciplines. "Dermatology and Radiology are end branches you finish here, you don't branch out later," Him said.

“In fields like Medicine, you study for years more to become a specialist. These branches let you settle your life sooner while pursuing your interests," Him explained.
