With a view to strengthen partnership with Japan’s trade, commerce, and industry and strengthening the cultural and economic relations between Japan and Gujarat, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will be on a week-long tour to Japan and Singapore from November 25

According to Rahul Gupta, Managing Director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) several industry leaders and businessmen from the state will accompany Patel in this tour.

The high-level delegation led by Chief Minister will begin their visit with a meeting with members of the Gujarati community living in Tokyo on November 26, when Patel will interact with the people and get to know about their contribution to the development of Japan. The next day i.e. on November 27, the delegation will pay a brief visit to the Embassy in Tokyo.


Japan became a partner due to unique possibilities for industrial and economic development in Gujarat. The Chief Minister and the delegation will engage with the Japanese government, industries, and institutions to discuss and explore areas of mutual cooperation. It may be mentioned here that the 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled for next January.

Patel along with the delegation will meet with the President of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the Governor of Tokyo, and the Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). In the evening, they will attend a dinner at India House hosted by C.B. George, Ambassador of India to Japan, in honour of the Chief Minister.

For the records, several Japanese industries and production units are presently active in Gujarat. Patel will also hold one-to-one meetings with key industrialists in Tokyo.

On November 29, a roadshow will be held at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo where several one-to-one meetings with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are scheduled to take place. After the roadshow, the high-level delegation will leave for Kobe via bullet train.

During his visit, CM will meet the Governor and Mayor of Kobe on November 30 followed by an interaction with the Gujaratis living in Japan. The aim is to discuss the contributions of the Indian and Gujarati communities in various fields of Japan. They will then leave for Singapore.

On December 1 Patel will hold one-to-one meetings with the Singapore government officials and will visit the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rahul Gupta added. The delegation will be ending their strategic tour on December 2, by visiting various sites in Singapore and leaving back for Ahmedabad.
