The government on Wednesday extended the free imports of urad and tur by one year till March 31, 2024.

India imported $200 million of urad and $194.23 million of tur in April-October FY23.

“The “free” import policy of urad and tur shall stand extended upto March 31, 2024,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.


In a separate notification, the DGFT also extended till further notice, the free import of refined bleached deodorised palm oil and palmolein from the extant deadline of December 31, 2022.

However, the directorate has retained the restriction that the imports of these refined oils will not be allowed through any port in Kerala.
