The government has allocated Rs 790 crore for cybersecurity projects in the current financial year. CERT-In conducts cybersecurity training programs in collaboration with industry partners

New Delhi: The government has an outlay of Rs 790 crore for cyber security projects in the current financial year, Parliament was informed on Friday.

Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, told Rajya Sabha in a written reply that the government has taken several legal, technical and administrative policy measures to strengthen cyber security infrastructure and protect citizens and government institutions against cyber threats.

He said that CERT-In conducts cyber security training programmes, including emerging technologies, in collaboration with industry partners to upskill the cyber security workforce in government, public and private organisations.

"The total budgetary allocation under the MeitY for cyber security projects is Rs 790 crore for the financial year 2026-27," Prasada said.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has been designated as the national agency for responding to cybersecurity incidents under the provisions of Section 70B of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000.

The minister said CERT-In has operationalised a responsible vulnerability disclosure and coordination programme for collection, analysis, mitigation and coordination with researchers, finders and vendors for fixing vulnerabilities in software and devices.

"CERT-In issues alerts and advisories regarding the latest cyber threats/vulnerabilities and countermeasures to protect computers, networks and data on an ongoing basis," he said.
