The high-level meeting comes just hours after the Indian armed forces carried out coordinated and precision strikes on nine terror bases operated by Pakistan-backed groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Air Force hit four targets within Pakistan's borders, while five additional terror sites were neutralised in PoK.

The ministry emphasised that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” with clear instructions to avoid any Pakistani military assets in order to prevent broader escalation.

The military operation was launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people — including 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national — were killed in what has been widely described as the worst civilian-targeted terror strike since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
