The government has approved the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project in Maharashtra. The 29-km metro corridor will circle the west side of Thane city with 22 stations, bridging Ulhas River and Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Costing Rs 12,200.10 crore, it will be funded equally by the Indian and Maharashtra governments, with additional support from bilateral agencies and innovative financing methods, the government said.
The cabinet has also okayed Phase-3 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore, which will include two elevated corridors totaling 44.65 km with 31 stations.
As part of this, Corridor-1 will extend 32.15 km from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura, and Corridor-2 will cover 12.50 km from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
Once completed, Bengaluru's metro network will span 220.20 km.
Lastly, the Modi-led cabinet has given a green light for a 5.46 km underground extension of Pune Metro's PCMC-Swargate Line, connecting Swargate to Katraj with three new stations.
Slated for completion by February 2029, the Rs 2,954.53 crore project, aims to ease traffic, enhance connectivity, and support sustainable urban development in Pune.
