Assuring justice to medical students, Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday said the attack on the hospital last night was a shame for the entire humanity and that the "blood bath cannot be allowed" anymore. "It is nothing but a blood bath and we cannot allow this blood bath. We want to tell the youngsters, who are the future of the country, that their voices will be heard," the governor said as he visited RG Kar Hospital campus following the rampage and vandalism by unidentified miscreants on August 15 midnight.

Bose said he has already written a letter to the Bengal chief minister on August 13 and she has replied that all steps have been taken and following the Calcutta High Court's order, the case has been handed over to the CBI.

The governor said that he had written to the CM demanding a CBI inquiry, protection and safety of women doctors in all medical colleges and other institutions, effective security for on-call doctors, selection of security staff based on revamp of the health infrastructure in all hospitals in the states.

During the visit, Bose went to the emergency department, which remains inoperative, along with other departments that got ransacked and vandalised last night. Bose announced "Abhaya Safe Home" in Raj Bhavan where any woman can take refuge. Bose spoke to the protesting students about last night's incident. "The miscreants vandalised the emergency departments and several other departments. The miscreants intended to reach the seminar room and destroy evidence," the student protestors said while briefing Bose. "Police was hiding in the department's washrooms," the students told Bose. They also demanded security of the central forces in the hospital premises, sources informed.

The governor assured that the students will get justice. "You will get justice. We will win and we shall overcome. We will not allow these ghastly things to happen. Our eyes and ears are open. We will work together for your service where women can live happily," the governor said.
