New Delhi, The Government on Tuesday extended the deadline for filing GST return and tax payment form GSTR-3B for March by one day.

The deadline extension comes after taxpayers experienced "technical difficulties" in return filing on April 20.

In a notification on Tuesday, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said the due date for GSTR-3B filing for the month of March is extended till April 21.

GSTR-3B is a monthly summary return that registered taxpayers file in a staggered manner between the 20th, 22nd and 24th of every month for different categories of taxpayers.

AMRG Global Managing Partner Rajat Mohan said while the extension of the GSTR-3B due date offers relief, it also underscores the urgent need for strengthening GSTN systems.

"Although the notification has been issued with retrospective effect, the timing resulted in significant last-minute pressure, with tax teams and professionals working late into the night to address potential non-compliances," Mohan added.
