Government appoints Pankaj Agrawal as power secretary

Chanchal Kumar, a 1992 Bihar cadre officer who is currently MD at National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corp, will take charge as secretary in the ministry of civil aviation from September 1.

The government has appointed Pankaj Agrawal, a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, as power secretary with effect July 1, replacing Alok Kumar who is retiring. Agrawal’s appointment, announced Tuesday late night, comes amid India’s G20 leadership, where energy transition deliberations are among the focus areas.

Chanchal Kumar, a 1992 Bihar cadre officer who is currently MD at National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corp, will take charge as secretary in the ministry of civil aviation from September 1.

Sudhansh Pant will take over as secretary at the Department of Health and Family Welfare on August 1. The 1991 Rajasthan cadre officer is currently secretary at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.


Chidambaranar Port Trust chairman TK Ramachandran, a 1991-batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, will replace Pant at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Rajat Kumar Mishra of 1992 Rajasthan cadre, currently additional secretary in Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed secretary, Department of Fertilisers.
