Goa hotel manager murders wife over suspected affair; tries to portray it as accident

In a shocking turn of events, a manager named Gaurav Katiyar of a luxury hotel in Goa has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and trying to portray it as an accident.

Reportedly, Gaurav Katiyar allegedly drowned his wife, Diksha Gangawar, at the scenic Rajbag beach in Cabo-De-Rama after she accused him of having an extramarital affair.

29-year-old Maanger killed his wife Diksha Gangwar (27) and tried to project it as an accident but a but a video shot by a man exposed his claim, reported PTI.


The body of the victim was found in Gangwar, near the popular beach, on Friday afternoon.

Prima facie, Katiyar killed Gangwar, whom he married a year ago, over his extramarital affair, PTI quoted an official as saying.

"The incident occurred at around 3.45 pm on Friday after Katiyar took his wife for a stroll on the beach, located not far from his workplace," the official said.

According to the official, Katiyar took his wife and drowned her. There were signs of struggle as injury marks were found on her body, the official added. After he drowned her, Katiyar created a commotion and tried to confuse the police by passing it off as an accident.

But all his claims fell flat when a video surfaced, which showed Katiyar's unusual behaviour. The video was shot by a local and helped police to nab Katiyar.

The shocking video clip showed that Katiyar drowned his wife, returned again to make sure whether she had really died, and then raised an alarm to show that he was in distress.
