Ghaziabad Police on Sunday booked a physician for lodging a false complaint of receiving threat calls for supporting Hindu organisations, just to gain publicity.

The accused doctor, who has been identified as Dr Arvind Vats Akela, is absconding, the police said.

The police also raided the house and clinic of accused.

In a complaint filed with the police on September 9, Vats alleged he received three threat calls on WhatsApp from a USA-based number from a caller who warned him against supporting any Hindu organisations, failing which he would be beheaded.

However, during investigation the police found the calls were made to the doctor by one of his patients, who called him to consult about his health and that the caller did not threaten the physician.

Superintendent of Police (first) Nipun Agarwal said that no threat was given to the doctor regarding beheading, adding he will be arrested soon.
