To acquire a fitness certificate for a bus or truck that is 15 year old, one would be required to spend Rs 12,500 as against the current price of Rs 1,500.

Rs 300 for private vehicles and Rs 500 for commercial vehicles would have to be paid in case owners delay the renewal of registration, while, renewal of fitness certificate for commercial vehicles, if delayed, would cost you Rs 50 a day.

The hike in these rates, as per a TOI report, is to discourage people from keeping their old vehicles.

Fitness certificates now mandatorily need to be renewed once a year, when a commercial vehicle turns 8 years old.
