Gadkari-backed outfit to organise conference on Vidarbha water conservation; Aamir Khan to attend

Nagpur, Actors Aamir Khan, Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure will take part in a two-day conference being organised by Union minister Nitin Gadkari's 'Purti Sinchan Samruddhi Kalyankari Sanstha' on water conservation and groundwater rejuvenation in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region.

The 'Purti Sinchan Samruddhi Kalyankari Sanstha' has organised the 'Jal Samvad' and 'Jalkranti Parishad' on May 17 and 18 here to mark its silver jubilee.

"The event will deliberate on water conservation solutions for making Vidarbha free from farmer suicides. Farmers, sarpanches, and public representatives from across Vidarbha are expected to participate," Gadkari said at a press conference here on Sunday.


He and others have been working under the aegis of 'Purti Sinchan Samruddhi Kalyankari Sanstha' for the last 25 years to overcome water shortage and irrigation problems in Vidarbha and provide financial stability to farmers, Gadkari added.

The main objective of the organization is to develop the rural and agricultural sector, he said, adding that the 'Tamaswada rejuvenation model' set up by the organization is being recognized across the country today.

The nearly dead Tamaswada 'nullah', about 12 km long in Selu taluka, was selected and restored. The project was planned by studying the Shirpur pattern in Dhule district and with the help of geologists, he said.

A grand ceremony will be organized under the guidance of Gadkari, which will be graced by actors Aamir Khan, Nana Patekar, and Makrand Anaspure along with award-winning water experts and researchers from across the country, organisers said.
