The ministers recognised that the disengagement along the border areas had contributed to maintenance of peace and tranquility. The discussions focused on the next steps in India-China relations, according to a readout by the Indian side.
This was the first high-level Sino-Indian meet in less than one month after the Kazan Summit.
It was agreed by Jaishankar and Wang Yi that a meeting of the special representatives (SRs) and of the foreign secretary-vice minister mechanism will take place soon.
At the meeting in Rio, the Chinese side requested India to resume visa services for its nationals for a variety of sectors, including tourism and business.
On the global situation and international issues, the external affairs minister noted that India and China have both differences and convergences, the officials informed.
