Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted global leaders US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Joko Widodo at Delhi's Raj Ghat during the latter's visit to pay homage to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, in the national capital on Sunday.

President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Oman Deputy Prime Minister Asaad bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong too were present.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Asian Development Bank President Masatsugu Asakawa, and World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Bank Chief Ajay Banga, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and other delegates arrived at Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath.

Later, PM Modi while posting to X, called Mahatma Gandhi the beacon of peace, service, compassion and non-violence.

“At the iconic Rajghat, the G20 family paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi - the beacon of peace, service, compassion and non-violence. As diverse nations converge, Gandhi Ji’s timeless ideals guide our collective vision for a harmonious, inclusive and prosperous global future,” the PM said.

Biden left for Vietnam after he and several other G20 leaders paid homage at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial.
