Speaking at the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan on UN Day on Sunday, he said, "The world cannot advance half prosperous and half denied. Speaking on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, he said that socities, economies and people who are far away, have little say in the matter, are actually paying the cost. "We cannot remain helpless spectators," he added.
Highlighting terrorism as a deadly threat to peace, the minister said, "India expresses global sentiment when we urge that dialogue and diplomacy are the only solution. We are making efforts ourselves and are open to working with other partners to that end."
Usage of terrorism as an instrument of statecraft is simply unacceptable, he said, adding that the act can never be justified or rationalised and "yet it continues because not all states really display zero tolerance."
He urged the world to develop sharper awareness about the common threat of terrorism.
Progress and prosperity are the flip side of conflict and violence, and they too are equally indivisible, he added.
EAM Jaishankar also called for an urgent de-risking of the global economy as "market distortions through constriction and choke points only add to suffering."
