FSSAI says 6 food companies including Livyor, Rajasthan Agro corrected misleading labels, trademarks after notices

Six Food Business Operators (FBOs) have taken corrective action after receiving notices from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for violations under food labelling and advertising norms, the regulator said on Sunday.

In a post on social media platform X, FSSAI said the companies had acted "promptly," with measures ranging from withdrawing misleading label claims to revising product packaging and delisting non-compliant products, in order to ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance.

Livyor Ventures Pvt Ltd withdrew the claims "vegan" and "healthy" from its Livyor Roasted Edamame Beans packaging. In its reply to FSSAI, the company said the claims were "inadvertently printed" on the label due to a lack of awareness of applicable regulatory requirements.

The FBO apologised for the lapse, assured the regulator it would not recur, and said it had begun revising its labels while destroying existing non-compliant packaging stock.

Honest Innovations For You Pvt Ltd and Heliostone Specialities Pvt Ltd changed their trademarks after FSSAI found them misleading.

Rajasthan Agro and General Industries removed all misleading claims from its labelling and stopped using PPM (parts per million) references flagged by the regulator, in addition to changing its trademark.

Iota Nanotechnology Pvt Ltd removed misleading claims from its label and halted production of non-standardised water.

Panchamurtha Industries Pvt Ltd delisted its electrolyte drink from its website following the notice.

The action is part of a wider enforcement drive FSSAI has run through 2026 under the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, which bar labels that are false, misleading or create an "erroneous impression" about a product.

Earlier this year, the regulator issued notices over the use of terms such as "healthy," "organic," "100%" and "no added sugar" to companies including The Whole Truth, Marico's Saffola range and several others, prompting a broader round of label revisions across the packaged food sector.

FSSAI has also acted against energy drink makers over use of the term "energy drink" and against alcoholic beverage manufacturers on labelling and additive claims.
