PM Modi, President Murmu and leaders across party line grieve passing of Sitaram Yechury

PM Modi noted Yechury as a 'leading light of the Left' and said he is saddened by the passing of the veteran leader.
Meanwhile, President of India Droupadi Murmu praised Yechury's contributions to India's student movements and national political scenario. "Though a committed ideologue, he won friends cutting across the party lines. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues," she wrote through a post on X.
Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were among the many leaders who took to X over the tragic incident. Rahul called him a 'friend' and a 'Protector of the idea of India.'
On the other hand, Priyanka said Yechury's death is a profound loss.
"The passing away of Shri Sitaram Yechury is a profound loss for all of us. His years of service and devotion to our country is worthy of the greatest respect. Most of all, he was an inherently decent human being who brought a sense of balance and gentleness to the harsh world of politics. May his soul rest in peace and may his loved ones find the strength and courage to face this tragedy," she wrote on her X post.
Congress leaders Siddaramaiah, Jairam Ramesh, and Sachin Pilot sent their condolences through posts on X as well; while Pawan Khera spoke about it to news agency PTI.
"Sitaram Yechury ji has made significant contributions to the politics of the country. His absence will be felt by all. He was determined towards his ideologies but never spoke ill about anyone. He was a great orator, MP, and a great person. We will never forget you Sitaram ji," he said.
"Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran CPI-M leader and a distinguished Parliamentarian, Sitaram Yechury Ji. He was admired across party lines for his intellect, excellent articulation of his party's positions and a deep-rooted passion for people's causes," wrote AAP leader Raghav Chadda.
Several BJP leaders also came together on X to send their condolences at the former Rajya Sabha member's death. From Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju and Hardeep Singh Puri to Tamil Nadu CM Chandrababu Naidu and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik - all took to X to express their sadness.
"Deeply saddened by veteran CPI-M leader, Sitaram Yechury Ji's passing. He was a stalwart who rose from the ranks to become one of the most respected voices in Indian politics. He was known for his intellectual take on issues, and connection with the people at the grassroots level. His insightful debates with leaders across the political spectrum earned him recognition beyond his party. My heartfelt condolences to his family, comrades, and followers. May his soul rest in peace," wrote Telegu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu.
Among other leaders who honoured the Marxist leader after his passing were Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party Ghulam Nabi Azad, JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and CPI leader D Raja.
