In Maharashtra, state authorities have declared holiday for all schools and colleges in Raigad district till Thursday.
As rains lashed many parts of the country, many state governments announced school holidays in specific areas. The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has announced holiday in all schools up to class 12 in Noida and Greater Noida on Wednesday due to rain and waterlogging. Parts of Delhi-NCR region including Noida and Ghaziabad experienced heavy rainfall early in the morning today. The Yamuna river in the national capital is still flowing close to its danger mark.

In Maharashtra, state authorities have declared holiday for all schools and colleges in Raigad district till Thursday amid the 'red alert' issued by the weather department. Last week, following incessant rainfall, a landslide struck a village situated on a hill slope in Khalapur tehsil, Raigad district, resulting in deaths of many people.

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'red' alert for the district. The weather department noted that Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudrug, Pune, Kolhapur and Satara districts will receive heavy to heavy rainfall till July 27.


In Karnataka, following a flash-flood warning in some parts of coastal and north interior parts of the state, authorities have declared a holiday for Wednesday in all the schools and colleges in the vulnerable regions.

"The MET department has issued a flash flood bulletin, warning of potential flash floods in some parts of Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka. The Government has reviewed the risk prone areas and is well prepared to tackle the issues on ground. To ensure safety, District Commissioners have declared holidays for schools and colleges in the vulnerable regions and it is advised for all citizens to adhere to the instructions of local administration," Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah tweeted.

The weather department has said that isolated to very heavy rainfall likely to continue over west coast till 26th July and over Telangana & Andhra Pradesh during till 27th July. It also warned of fresh spell of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over east central India till 27th July. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also predicted over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, north Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh till 27th July and over east India during 28th-30th July.
