Fresh low-pressure system to bring more rain in East
A fresh low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring more rain to south West Bengal from Monday, with scattered showers likely in Kolkata, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.

The monsoon trough is active, and as a result, there will be no relief from the rain for now.
An official at the Met Office said, "There is a cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal adjacent the West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts. It extends up to a height of 5.8 km above sea level. Due to its influence, a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning. In addition, the monsoon trough is active. It extends from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand to Digha and reaches the Bay of Bengal. Due to its influence, heavy rain may occur in some areas of south Bengal on Monday." Gusty winds are blowing in the north Bay of Bengal along the coasts of Odisha and Bengal at 35-45 km per hour. Fishermen have been asked not to go to sea in this area till Monday.
