The access-controlled expressway, featuring four-lanes, connects Etawah to Chitrakoot via Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, and Banda. With the completion of this expressway, the distance to Delhi has been reduced to just 7-8 hours. The toll collection responsibility has been assigned to Maharashtra-based firm Inderdeep Construction Company by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).
According to the toll fee structure, four-wheelers will be charged Rs 620 for a single trip and Rs 993 for a return trip within 24 hours. Light commercial vehicles and mini-buses will have to pay Rs 990 for a single trip, while buses and trucks will be charged Rs 1,995 for a trip. Multi-axle vehicles, trailers, and earth movers will incur additional charges.
The toll plaza will be managed by Inderdeep Construction Company for one year, and UPEIDA is expected to generate an annual fee of Rs 68.39 crore (including GST) through toll operations. According to the rules, the company will increase the tax by 10 percent every year. As many as 6 toll plazas and 7 ramp plazas have been completed on the expressway. Soon, 6 ambulances and 12 petrol vehicles will patrol the expressway day and night.
UPEIDA had previously invited bids to operate the expressway in January, but faced difficulties in finding a suitable agency for six months. Only after relaxing the condition requiring bidders to provide a minimum of Rs 100 crore in revenue annually to UPIEDA did three companies come forward to bid for the project in the fifth call. With the toll collection now in effect, the expressway is set to generate revenue while providing commuters with a well-maintained and efficient transportation corridor.
