Four dead, dozens injured after bridge collapses in Pune
In Pune, an iron bridge over the Indrayani River at Kundamale collapsed on Sunday, resulting in at least four fatalities and injuries to 30-35 individuals. The bridge, previously declared unsafe, was a popular spot during heavy rains.

The iron bridge, built over the Indrayani River at Kundamale in Pune had been declared unsafe. However, the administration neither dismantled the bridge nor did it restrict access to it.
The bridge becomes a popular tourist spot whenever it rains heavily as it passes over the Indrayani River.
The bridge collapsed around 3:35pm when there were at least 80 to 100 people on it. At least 7 people were rescued while several are still stuck under the bridge. The NDRF teams are using gas cutters to dismantle the collapsed bridge to rescue those who are still under it.
Pune has been witnessing heavy rain for the past few days and according to several eyewitness accounts, a few people were seen being washed away after they fell into the river when the bridge collapsed.
