Guwahati: Former militants on Friday withdrew their road and railway blockades in Tripura after a series of negotiations with senior government officials. The former militants who belonged to National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) launched a 72-hour blockade over the non-implementation of key provisions of a tripartite agreement signed with the Centre and the Tripura government.

Vehicular movement and train services were severely affected across Tripura from 6 am on Friday due to the road and railway blockades enforced by hundreds of surrendered militants. A police official said around 450 youths organised blockades in West Tripura and Khowai districts along National Highway-8 and the railway line since 6 am on Friday.

Leaders of the disbanded outfits claimed the government has yet to fulfil several commitments made under the tripartite agreement signed in New Delhi on September 4, 2024.
