Gaganjot Sandhu, son of the late former Haryana agriculture minister

Rupnagar (Punjab), Gaganjot Sandhu, son of former Haryana agriculture minister late Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, allegedly shot himself dead here, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in Kakot village here on Friday.

Gaganjot, 48, came to his farmhouse in Kakot and allegedly shot himself with his licensed weapon. He was alone at the time of the incident, police said.


After receiving information about the incident, officials from the Sadar police station rushed to the spot.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sunny Khanna said the matter was under investigation and further details would be known only after a thorough inquiry.

He said the body was shifted to Rupnagar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Gaganjot had served as the sarpanch of Gumthala Garhu village in Haryana's Kurukshetra.

His father Jaswinder Singh Sandhu was a four-time MLA from Pehowa. He also served as minister in the O P Chautala government.

Jaswinder Sandhu died in 2019.
