He also exchanged views on developments in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia. On Wednesday, Misri met under secretaries Michael Duffey and Elbridge Colby at the department of defence, and Jeffrey Kessler and William Kimmitt at the department of commerce.
"Sustaining the momentum of India-US defence exchanges, foreign secretary Vikram Misri had another wide-ranging conversation with under secretary of war for policy Elbridge Colby @USWPColby at the Pentagon, covering the ongoing developments in the Indo-Pacific region and West Asia," the Indian embassy in US said in a post on X.
Colby had visited India last month and met Misri on the sidelines of India-US defence policy group meeting. Misri also had a productive exchange with Duffey, under secretary for acquisition and sustainment at the department of defence.
The two sides discussed ways to deepen defence industrial, technology and supply chain linkages, in line with goals outlined in the framework for the bilateral Major Defence Partnership signed last year.
At the department of commerce, Misri met Kessler, under secretary for the bureau of industry and security, and Kimmitt, under secretary for international trade administration.
Misri's visit comes amid efforts to stabilise ties strained by delays in a trade deal and US-Pakistan relations. He also launched the India-US trade facilitation portal as both countries target $500 billion in bilateral trade. "It will serve as a bridge ensuring continuity and ensuring that existing supply chains are reinforced, and at the same time will enable new commercial linkages to emerge and grow," Misri said.
