"The resumption of this bilateral mechanism flows from the agreement at the leadership level to discuss the next steps for India-China relations, including in the political, economic, and people-to-people domains," said the official press release.
Earlier on Wednesday, ET reported that visas, resumption of direct flights and an inclusive economic partnership besides early de-escalation of the border standoff would be on the agenda of Misri's trip.
Last December, NSA Ajit Doval met his Chinese counterpart and foreign minister Wang Yi in Beijing as part of the SR mechanism. The SRs met in accordance with the decision taken during PM Narendra Modi meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan recently. The meeting between NSA Doval and Wang Yi was scheduled after New Delhi and Beijing in October reached an agreement regarding patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the India-China border areas.
Following an understanding reached on October 21, the Indian and Chinese militaries completed the disengagement of troops at the two remaining friction points of Demchok and Depsang.
