FM Sitharaman invites Scott Bessent to New Delhi, commits to deepen India-US ties on critical minerals

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman invited US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to New Delhi later this year for the Economic and Financial Partnership, as the two officials committed to deepening the India-US relationship across various areas, including critical minerals, the Finance Ministry said.

Sitharaman met Bessent on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Asheville on Monday.

Bessent appreciated India's role in G7 plus and its participation in G7-led critical mineral dialogues aimed at securing supply chains and sharing research and technology, the ministry said.


Sitharaman and Bessent also acknowledged the long-standing relationship between India and the US and committed to deepening cooperation in various areas, including critical minerals.
