FM Sitharaman announces infra projects & public service portals in Guwahati

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced approval of a 3-km long bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 3,094 cr in Guwahati along with inauguration of the RTPS portal.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the approval of the construction of a 3 km long 4-lane bridge on the Brahmaputra river in Kamrup, Guwahati.

The bridge, which will be constructed at an estimated total cost of Rs 3,094 crore, will facilitate direct connectivity to the internationally-renowned silk town of Saualkuchi and the industrial region of Amingaon with Guwahati and the International airport.

‘The bridge will decongest Guwahati and increase transport efficiency thus helping in cutting down travel time for daily commuters from the adjoining districts’, FM Sitharaman said.


Sitharaman also laid the foundation stone of upgradation work of a 90 km road from Haflong Tinali to Lower Haflong, under the Road Network Improvement Project (ARNIP). Around Rs 900 crore will be spent on building roads in Dima Hasao. Further, Rs 250 crore will be spent for the construction of the Umrangso-Lanka road within nine months.

The RTPS (Right to Public Service) portal which seeks to improve access in the delivery of select public services in Assam was launched alongside the inauguration of excise & tax portal of the Assam government, which is funded by the World Bank.
