At the renowned Kottankulangara temple near Kollam, a five-year-old girl, identified as Kshetra, lost her life after being crushed under the wheels of a ceremonial chariot during the annual festival.

The young child, accompanied by her parents from Chavara, accidentally fell beneath the chariot's wheels as devotees pulled it. Despite efforts by her parents and the police to rush her to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

"The accident happened at around 11.30 pm on Sunday. She came to the temple along with her parents," police said. "Sometimes children also pull the rope tied to the chariot. It seems like she fell accidently," police added.


Police authorities reported that the accident occurred around 11:30 pm on Sunday, highlighting that children sometimes participate in pulling the chariot's rope, suggesting that she may have fallen accidentally.

The incident transpired in an open field where the chariot procession was underway. Subsequently, a case has been registered in connection with this heart-wrenching incident.
