Fire breaks out at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce in Delhi; brought under control

A fire broke out early on Thursday morning at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce in Delhi's Pitampura, prompting an emergency response from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

Officials confirmed that the blaze originated in the college library and was reported in the early hours of the day.

Eleven fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site, and the flames were brought under control by approximately 9:40 am, according to DFS authorities. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.


The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities have initiated a preliminary investigation to assess the extent of the damage and to identify what might have triggered the incident.


According to a TOI report, the flames erupted around 8:55 am and spread through three storeys of the four-storey library building of the college.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident of fire, five passengers died after a bus caught fire on Kisan Path in the Mohanlalganj area in Uttar Pradesh. The bus was traveling from Bihar to Delhi when the fire broke out.

Emergency services responded promptly, but the blaze resulted in the loss of lives. Further details about the cause and circumstances of the accident are awaited.
