The blaze, which started around 6:10 am, filled the area with dense smoke but caused no injuries or fatalities as the building was unoccupied at the time.
Four fire tenders—two from Madhapur and one each from Kukatpally and Vattinagulapalle—were deployed to bring the fire under control.
Shaik Khaja Karimulla, District Fire Officer of Rangareddy, told PTI that efforts to extinguish the blaze were ongoing and that thick smoke was emanating from parts of the fourth and fifth floors. Visuals from the scene showed plumes of smoke rising from the building.
The security staff alerted authorities after noticing the smoke, and preliminary reports suggest an electrical short circuit as the likely cause. However, a thorough investigation will confirm the exact reason. The extent of the property damage will be assessed once the fire is completely doused.
