"The fire was triggered by a blast in the AC (air conditioner). Since the firefighting systems like sprinklers, extinguishers, hoses, were working fine, the fire did not spread out much and was contained in one room (of the flat)," Choubey said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to any person in the episode.
The incident took place in a flat on the 10th floor of the building. Videos on social media showed heavy smoke billowing from the apartment in one of the residential towers of the society.
Security personnel and vigilant residents promptly reported the fire, enabling the activation of the fire, technical, and housekeeping teams. These teams worked efficiently to control the fire within 10-15 minutes, a crucial period for fire control.
According to an email sent by RWA authorities, 'The measures taken included switching off the IGL gas line, cutting off the electricity connection for the entire floor, and deploying on-site fire extinguishers and hosepipes. These efforts successfully doused the fire before the arrival of the fire brigade.'
