Some girls were seen jumping from their balconies in a desperate attempt to escape the flames as neighbors tried to help.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Chaubey confirmed that the fire department responded swiftly after receiving the alert around 5:25 pm.
Firefighters launched a search operation, going door to door inside the hostel while wearing breathing apparatus to navigate the thick smoke. Fortunately, no students were trapped inside as they had successfully evacuated the building.
Initial investigations revealed that the fire was triggered by an explosion in the compressor of an air conditioner in a second-floor room. The room was locked and unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Chaubey assured that there had been no loss of life or injuries. Despite the alarming visuals, including students leaping from the building, the quick response prevented further harm.
