Massive fire at Delhi's Lajpat Nagar eye hospital, 12 fire tenders at spot

A fire broke out at an eye hospital in southeast Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area on Wednesday, according to officials. There are no reports of injuries so far, stated a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official.

The fire call was received at 11:30 am, and 12 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene. The firefighting operation is currently underway, as per the official.



On May 28, a similar incident occurred at a private eye hospital in west Delhi's Paschim Vihar area. Officials reported that no injuries were sustained as people were safely evacuated from the building.

The fire at Eye Mantra Hospital broke out on the second floor, as confirmed by a Delhi Fire Services official.

This incident follows closely after a tragic fire in East Delhi where eight newborns lost their lives on May 25.

"In the hospital, there were 12 newborn babies admitted, and one was already deceased before the fire incident. All 12 newborns were rescued from the hospital with the assistance of others and transferred to East Delhi Advance NICU Hospital for treatment. Six of them succumbed during treatment," stated the official.

According to police sources, Baby Care New Born Child Hospital violated Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines concerning the storage of oxygen cylinders.
