The Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case in Doda district over alleged posters featuring Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the Pakistani flag, which were reportedly pasted in the Pul Doda area of the district.

A geo-tagged video of the posters went viral on social media, prompting the police to immediately swing into action and reach the spot. However, officials said they neither found the posters nor any suspected individual at the location. An FIR has nevertheless been registered and an investigation is underway.

According to the unverified video, the posters were allegedly pasted on walls by the Jammu Kashmir Youth Movement. The posters reportedly carried text in Urdu "praising Pakistan’s efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the US" and expressing hope for positive outcomes in the ceasefire negotiations. The message also "thanked Pakistan on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir".

Police officials said that FIR No. 95/2026 under Section 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered, and further investigation is in progress. “The viral video had a geo-tagged location within our jurisdiction, and we immediately reached the spot but could not find anything. Some objectionable content was visible on the posters, which could have spread fear and panic among people. We have registered the case to ascertain whether the video was genuine or AI-generated and to identify who is behind it,” a senior police official said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Kartik Shrotriya, said the police acted promptly after the matter surfaced and launched an investigation. “We are investigating the matter and trying to ascertain the facts. Earlier too, we had incidents of PIA-marked balloons appearing in border areas,” Shrotriya told ET.
