"Both India and Russia expressed expectations of strong outcomes from the upcoming 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, scheduled to be held on December 5," the finance ministry said in a post on microblogging site X.
Manturov also extended "strong support" to India's upcoming chairship of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) grouping, per the statement. India will assume the BRICS chairship from Russia in January.
Sitharaman's meeting with Manturov came on a day when Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi for the bilateral annual summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Putin are expected to review the progress of India-Russia cooperation, decide the future direction of the special strategic partnership between the two countries, and discuss important regional and global issues that matter to both.
Manturov was accompanied by Reshetnikov Maxim, Russian minister of economic development; Siluanov Anton, minister of finance; and Nabiullina Elvira, chairperson of the central bank, among others.
Top officials from the departments of economic affairs and financial services and those from the external affairs ministry and the Reserve Bank of India participated in the bilateral discussion.
