FCRA 2.0: ‘Terror funding’ vs ‘minority targeting’; BJP-Congress clash over purpose of Bill

Speaking outside Parliament regarding the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Amendment (FCRA) Bill, BJP MP Madan Rathore defended the amendment and said, “The amendment regarding foreign contributions is essential because the received funds are often misused” and alleged that “conspirators aiming to destabilise the country are receiving this money”. SP MP Dimple Yadav countered and said, “the bill appears designed to target minorities” and demanded, “the government disclose whether the RSS is registered or not. If it is not, where are the funds for its operations coming from”. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also said, “we are not going to agree to either of them. So we are committed to opposing very strongly”.
