Father seeks CBI probe into student leader Anish Khan's death

Student leader Anish Khan's father has once again demanded a CBI inquiry into his son's death claiming that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not made any substantial progress till date on the investigation. The senior Khan is likely to meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on the issue. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court (HC) has ordered a second Test Identification (TI) parade as Anish Khan's father, Salem Khan, could not identify the police personnel who visited his house.

"We want a CBI inquiry into my son's death. We are not happy with the SIT investigation as the police personnel had killed my son. I will meet Bengal Governor but not Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee," Salem Khan told mediapersons.

The HC will hear the Anish Khan case on Monday and monitor the progress on the investigations. Salem Khan has already participated in a TI parade in the last week of February to identify a home guard and a civic volunteer in connection with Anish Khan's death. Salem Khan, accompanied by his lawyer, had visited Uluberia jail to identify Kashinath Bera, the home guard, and Pritam Bhattacharya, the civic volunteer. However, Salem could not identify the duo, following which the court ordered a second TI parade.


It may be recalled that four police personnel had visited Anish Khan's house on the night of his death. The Calcutta HC had ordered a second autopsy in the last week of February after it was sought by the SIT.
