Farmers to get protection during the cropping season: Manipur Police

Police in Manipur have asked the farmers intending to start the cropping season to venture in the field only with police protection.

“As the cropping window is very short we have decided to provide the farmers with adequate security to start the farming and agriculture activity,” said the police.

The police, “We have reduced security from various places including VIPs. We have assigned 822 personnel for Imphal West, 219 personnel for Imphal East, 236 for Bishnupur, 147 for Thoubal, 204 for Kakching, 300 personnel for Churachandpur and Kangpokpi has 200 personnel.”


The police stated, “The force will be deployed by the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of police in consultation with the agriculture department and local population. We want to appeal to the farmers not to venture in the field by themselves without informing the Superintendent of police for this may be risky and hazardous.”

The unified command meeting recently decided the government will provide more security personnel in five districts and its adjoining areas.

The meeting had decided for Kangpokpi and Churachandpur adjoining areas, Imphal East and Imphal west and Kakching around 2000 police personnel will be deployed additionally.
