The Noida Police, anticipating disruptions due to a farmers' protest march towards Delhi, has released detailed traffic guidelines. Protestors, led by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and other farmer organisations, are marching to demand compensation and benefits under agricultural reforms. This includes a legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

“We are ready for our march towards Delhi. Tomorrow, on December 2, we will start our march towards Delhi from under the Maha Maya flyover in Noida. At noon, all of us will reach there and demand our compensation and benefits as per the new laws,” said Sukhbir Khalifa, BKP leader, during a statement to ANI.

Key Traffic Restrictions and Diversions

To mitigate the impact of the protest, restrictions on heavy vehicles and diversions for passenger traffic have been implemented. Police are conducting strict checks at all major Noida-Delhi borders.

  • Heavy Vehicle Restrictions: Goods vehicles will be barred from routes including the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk.
  • Alternate Routes for Passenger Vehicles:
  • Chilla Border to Greater Noida: Sector 14-A flyover → Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15 → Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk → Jhunjhupura Chowk.
  • DND Border to Delhi: Film City flyover → Sector-18 → Elevated Road.
  • Kalindi Border to Delhi: Mahamaya flyover → Sector-37.
  • Greater Noida to Delhi: Via Charkha roundabout → Kalindi Kunj or Hajipur underpass → Kalindi Kunj through Sector-51 and Model Town.
  • Yamuna Expressway Traffic: Exit at Jewar toll → Khurja → Jahangirpur.
  • Peripheral Expressway Traffic: Avoid Sirsa exit → Use Dadri or Dasna exits for Delhi.

Metro and Helpline Assistance

The police strongly recommended commuters use Metro services to avoid traffic snarls. To assist travellers, Noida authorities have activated a traffic helpline at 9971009001, offering updates and guidance.

Farmers’ discontent has been building since the halt of their earlier march at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana in February. Groups such as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have criticised the Centre for failing to address their concerns.

“We will march towards Delhi on foot on December 6,” stated Sarwan Singh Pandher, a leader from Punjab. He accused the government of neglecting the demands for MSP guarantees and delayed dialogue.

The protests have drawn thousands of farmers to border areas, echoing the earlier farmer movement against agricultural reforms.

Authorities have urged commuters to stay informed and plan their journeys cautiously. With heightened security, road restrictions, and ongoing protests, Delhi-NCR’s roads will see increased monitoring. Meanwhile, farmers remain steadfast in their demands, intensifying their call for government accountability.
