On Wednesday at the Supreme Court, senior lawyer Dinesh Dwivedi and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud had a lighthearted moment.

With a sense of irony, Mr. Dwivedi explained that the previous Holi celebrations were the reason for his multicolored hair. He laughed, I apologize for my colorful hair. Holi is to blame. This is the drawback of living surrounded by several children and grandchildren. You are helpless to save yourself.

"Nothing to do with the alcohol?" retorted Chief Justice Chandrachud, smiling.

Mr. Dwivedi laughed along with everyone else and jokingly said, "It does. Holi means partly alcohol... and I must confess... I am a fan of whiskey." The laughter broke out in the courtroom.

Dwivedi went into detail throughout the hearing about his love of scotch and how he nearly got into trouble for it.

A lawsuit concerning industrial alcohol was being heard by a nine-judge Constitution panel. The bench discussed the overlapping authorities between the federal government and state governments over the manufacturing of industrial alcohol, as well as whether industrial alcohol is the same as edible alcohol that is sold in stores.
