Evicted people can enroll at new address, says Assam CEO on Special Revision of electoral rolls

The Election Commission has begun the Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam. Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel said people displaced in recent eviction drives must reapply to be included in the rolls from their new address using Form 8.

As the Election Commission of India begins the process of Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam, CEO Anurag Goel on Tuesday said that those evicted from their homes, during the recent eviction drives in the state, have to apply again to get their names enlisted in the electoral rolls from their new locations. The CEO said that the evicted people must apply from their new place of habitation using Form 8.

The Assam government recently carried out a series of eviction drives against the people staying "illegally" in the forest land and government land.
