Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday said India’s development cannot be complete unless Bihar becomes prosperous, as the state seeks to diversify its economy beyond agriculture and strengthen its links with industry and technology.

“A developed India will only be realised when Bihar is prosperous,” Choudhary said while speaking at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026. He said Bihar was moving towards development and was working to create an ecosystem for businesses by offering land and electricity, while highlighting the availability of skilled workers in the state.

Choudhary said Bihar wants to connect with all sectors of the economy to achieve complete financial prosperity and contribute to a Viksit Bharat. He said four airports are currently operational in the state, while work is underway on 10 more.

The chief minister said the state has also formulated a plan to generate Rs 5-7 crore in revenue from the mining sector over the next five years. He highlighted plans for a Ganga-facing industrial corridor and townships, including a 3.5 lakh-acre area identified for township development.

Choudhary also said Bihar was restoring Nalanda and stressed improvements in infrastructure and law and order. “If you go to Bihar, you’ll see infra has changed, law and order has changed, it’s safe now. Trust Bihar,” he said.

He said the state is also looking to strengthen education and industry linkages, adding that Bihar would provide teachers to students even at 11 pm if they wanted to study online. He said the state’s goal is to quadruple its economy over the next four years, adding that Bihar is moving forward at its own pace.
