Cities across India reported an average of 117 economic offences every day in 2024, up from 86 daily cases in 2018, according to latest National Crime Records Bureau data. A majority of the offences involved frauds in the Rs 1-10 lakh range, although scams involving crores of rupees also accounted for a sizeable share.
