The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has developed the first national-level Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) to assess the development of 2.5 lakh gram panchayats based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The first national-level Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) has been readied to measure the progress of the country’s 2.5 lakh gram panchayats (GPs) on overall development and 17 Sustainable Development Goals. PAI 2022-23, developed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, has found 699 panchayats in top categories, led by Gujarat and Telangana.
