The unofficial motto for the ET Awards has always been ‘Work Hard, Play Hard, At the Same Time.’ That was on full display after the award ceremony at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai when some 40 special guests joined host Samir Jain and foreign minister S Jaishankar, also ET Reformer of the Year, in some serious power chitchat over haute cuisine and ‘hauteur’ company.

Five round tables with eight guests each settled down inside the warm glow of the Gateway Room to tuck into baby green quinotto (quinotto with edamame, baby spinach, tender asparagus tips, Romanesco parmesan crisp smoked panko sauce), Italian extravaganza (aged black garlic, fondue, stuffed ravioli, rainbow cauliflower truffle and pecan nut essence), and other sumptuous fare.

At one table, Kyoko Jaishankar exchanged notes and observations with Cred founder Kunal Shah. At another, Titan CEO CK Venkataraman, ET Business Leader of the Year, was heard show-and-telling Standard Chartered’s Zarin Daruwala about the new pendant around his neck that he got specially made by Mia, Tanishq’s trendy everyday adornment sub-brand, in honour of one of his dogs, Dosa – the other one being Vada. Sundaram Clayton MD Lakshmi Venu, sitting at the same table, couldn’t resist showing off her Oura ring.

Chanel CEO Leena Nair was soaking in the high table talk of Jaishankar between her and Jain while they diplomatically attacked the Strawberry Sable Breton (crushed black pepper infused cream Chantilly) for dessert.
